Rig Life Co.

Terms of Use and Disclaimer

Rig Life is a trip-planning tool. These terms explain what that means for you and for us. By using this website, you agree to them.

The short version

  • Off-roading is risky. You decide which trails to drive, and you are responsible for your rig, your passengers and your safety.
  • Our information can be wrong or out of date. Trails, roads, closures, fees and rules change. Always check with the land manager before you go.
  • Adventure Partners are independent businesses. Rig Life does not cook their food, run their tours or do their repairs, and is not responsible for them.
  • In an emergency, call 911. Don't count on this site or a cell signal out on the trail.

1. Information only, no guarantees

Everything on Rig Life, including trail details, ratings, maps, GPS points, directions, elevations, times, vehicle recommendations, air-down pressures, fees, seasons, closures and partner listings, is general information to help you plan. We gather it from public sources and our own research, but we can't promise it is complete, accurate or current. Some figures are estimates and are marked that way.

Trail conditions change with weather, washouts, rockfall and land-manager decisions, sometimes overnight. Before you drive, confirm current conditions, closures, permits and rules with the agency that manages the land, such as the BLM, National Park Service, U.S. Forest Service, Utah State Parks or Grand County. Their contact information is listed on each trail where we have it.

2. You drive at your own risk

Off-highway driving can lead to vehicle damage, getting stranded, serious injury or death. Difficulty ratings are opinions, and a trail can be much harder than its rating because of conditions, your vehicle, or your experience. You alone decide whether to drive a trail, which line to take and when to turn back.

You are responsible for:

  • Your vehicle's condition and equipment, and whether it is suited to the trail.
  • Your driving skill and decisions, and the safety of your passengers and others around you.
  • Carrying enough water, fuel, food, recovery gear and a way to call for help.
  • Following all laws, posted signs, closures, permit requirements and land-use rules.

By using this site to plan or drive a trail, you accept these risks.

3. Adventure Partners are independent businesses

Restaurants, lodging, campgrounds, repair shops, recovery and towing services, rentals, tours, medical providers and other businesses shown on Rig Life are independent companies. They are not owned or operated by Rig Life, and they are not our employees or agents.

Adventure Partners pay to be listed on Rig Life. A partner listing, a level badge, a "Rig Life Recommended" label, or a suggestion from Rejee is advertising. It is not a guarantee of quality, safety, licensing, pricing or availability. Rig Life does not prepare, handle or inspect any food, and does not perform, supervise or guarantee any service a partner provides. Any purchase, reservation or service is strictly between you and that business, so please contact them directly with questions or problems.

4. Rejee, Trip Builder and other tools

Rejee, the Trip Builder, the Trail Finder, maps, calendar files, reminders and "Share to Phones" links are automated tools offered as a convenience. They can make mistakes, miss information or stop working. Calendar reminders depend on your phone and calendar app and may not appear. Map and direction links open third-party apps that may route you incorrectly. Use your own judgment.

5. Emergencies

If someone is hurt or in danger, call 911. Cell coverage is limited or missing on many trails, so plan ahead and consider carrying a satellite messenger. Nothing on Rig Life is a substitute for emergency services, medical advice or professional help.

6. Other websites and services

Rig Life links to and uses other services, such as Google Maps, Apple Maps, map tiles, the USGS elevation service and partner websites. We don't control them and aren't responsible for their content, accuracy or availability.

7. Community posts

If you share photos or stories, you must own them or have permission to share them, and they must not show anything illegal, unsafe or offensive. You keep ownership of what you post, and you give Rig Life permission to display, share and use it on our website and social media to promote Rig Life. We may edit, decline or remove any post. Opinions in posts belong to the people who wrote them.

8. No warranties

Rig Life and everything on it are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any warranties of accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Rig Life Co. and its owners, team members and contributors are not liable for any injury, death, illness, property or vehicle damage, loss or expense of any kind arising from your use of this website or its information or tools, from any trail or road you travel, or from any food, product, lodging or service provided by an Adventure Partner or any other third party.

Some places don't allow certain limits on liability, so some of the above may not apply to you.

10. Your responsibility to us

If your actions, your posts, or your breaking of these terms or the law lead to a claim against Rig Life, you agree to cover the resulting costs, including reasonable attorney fees.

11. Changes

We may update these terms as Rig Life grows. The date below shows the latest version. Using the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Idaho, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute about these terms or the website will be handled in the courts located in Idaho, unless the law where you live requires otherwise.
